Full Description:
An excellent video covering the village events on the 50th anniversary of V E Day. This appears to be a restored version, dated 19th January 2012.

The marquee put up in the grounds of the Catholic Church in Mill Road was set afire by vandals and burnt to the ground. The true spirit of local organisations and the Scouts enabled tents and furniture to be assembled on the Glebe. Don Jarvis and Jenny Berkley are seen setting up an exhibition in one of the tents. The Royal British Legion paraded from the Baker's Arms to the War Memorial led by a solitary Piper. The service was attended by Charles Sparrow QC, an eminent Judge and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex and celebrated by the three priests of the Churches in Stock. After the ceremony events on the Common and in the Square commenced. There were numerous stalls, a BBQ, games for children, a fancy dress competition and a tea party. A spitfire flew overhead. Later in the day there was dancing to wartime music on the Common, the lighting of the beacon and ending with a sing-song and a rousing rendition of Rule Britannia!

The video lasts 48 minutes. This video can also be seen on YouTube via the Stock Village website.
